Poor quality alcohol. How to identify low-quality alcohol and what to do if it is poisoned

Purified vodka tastes much better, and it doesn’t cause a hangover and headache the next day, because after filtration, impurities are removed, due to which a person is knocked down when intoxicated.

If you want to drink really high-quality products, clean the alcoholic beverage. The process is performed at home, using folk methods and means. You do not need special skills for the procedure, the main thing is to take into account the recommendations that are described below.

The best folk methods for cleaning vodka and alcohol

Consider the most effective methods for cleaning alcoholic beverages using home remedies.

Milk

A great way to achieve the desired result. To filter 20 liters of alcoholic liquid, you need one glass of milk. It is recommended to use store-bought pasteurized products with 1-1.5% fat content.

Add milk to vodka or alcohol and insist for five days. Shake the liquid container from time to time. The final step will be filtration through several layers of cotton wool. The result may be cloudy, but everything is fixable - put any citrus in the liquid and the problem will go away.

Egg white

Able to remove various oils from vodka. For 1.5 liters of alcohol, take one medium-sized egg white. Before adding to vodka or alcohol, prepare the egg mixture. Beat the protein, mix with 1 glass of water at room temperature and pour into alcohol. Insist up to 7 days, then filter through cotton wool.

Freeze

Freezing will help clear the alcohol of impurities. Pour vodka into an aluminum container, close the container tightly with a lid and place in the freezer. The procedure takes an average of 12 hours. It is important to consider that after freezing, the fortress becomes higher.

Infusion and activated charcoal

Put activated charcoal at the rate of 2 tablets per 3 liters of liquid, and infuse for three days. Next, filter using cotton wool.

Use only fresh black rye bread. The yeast found in the baked goods helps eliminate bad taste and cloudiness. For 1 liter of alcohol, vodka or moonshine, 100 grams of bread crumb is taken. Infuse the drink for about 7 days, then filter it.

Potassium permanganate

Small purple crystals are able to clean vodka with alcohol well. Add the powder to the liquid at the rate of 2 grams per 1 liter of alcohol. Put the container in a dark place for two weeks. After the liquid becomes transparent in color, and a precipitate falls to the bottom, filter with cotton swabs. In some cases, a conventional water filter is used.

Oil

Take refined oil at the rate of 100 ml per 3 liters of vodka, close the container with a lid and shake well. Leave for one day. Since the oil will float on top, draining the finished clarified drink will not be difficult. Additionally filter through cotton wool.

Soda

It will help to inexpensively and efficiently purify vodka at home. Use about 10 g of product per 1 liter of alcohol. Settle for a day, at the end of the process, remove the sediment.

Fruit

Fruits not only help to get rid of unnecessary impurities, but also give an unusual taste, adding bright notes. Most often use an orange, apple or lemon.

In a three-liter bottle filled with alcoholic beverages, add 1-2 fruits, cut into slices. Settle for 2-3 days and filter through a cotton swab.

Why and when to clean

The most dangerous substances that are found in home-made alcoholic beverages are fusel oils. They adversely affect human health in general, and it is because of them that the next day after use, the head splits. To avoid this, purification is carried out by the considered methods.

  • To filter any alcohol, cotton wool, cotton pads or gauze folded in several layers are used.
  • To improve the taste, it is recommended to add hops or bee honey.
  • All kinds of herbs, berries or citrus fruits give a pleasant smell to vodka or alcohol.

How to make vodka from alcohol?

Making homemade vodka is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. The main thing is to maintain the necessary proportions and deadlines.

The main stages of the transformation of alcohol into vodka:

  1. We prepare water. It should be purified (store-bought in bottles), ideally - spring. The use of distilled is excluded completely. The best option is soft purified water with a minimum salt content.
  2. Preparing alcohol. To get vodka, ethyl or medical alcohol is taken, which is diluted with water, and the strength is monitored using a hydrometer.
  3. Additional ingredients. An auxiliary substance in the production of vodka is glucose. Its preparation is simple: dissolve 1 kg of sugar in 1 liter of water, boil the liquid, removing the foam.
  4. Optionally, honey, citric acid, citrus juice are added.
  5. We mix all the ingredients based on 100 ml of alcohol and 130 ml of water. Glucose and aromatic additives will not affect the fortress.

Video guide

It is not difficult to prepare vodka, but alcohol abuse causes irreparable harm to health. The main thing is to have a head on your shoulders and not get carried away. Take care of yourself!

Alcohol is the main ingredient in almost all alcoholic beverages. But in order to end up with high-quality, tasty, and most importantly safe products, you need to choose the right alcohol.

Alcohol can be of two types: ethyl and methyl. Which of them can be drunk or eaten, and what color they burn, we will tell below.

Ethyl or ethanol

Ethyl alcohol is of two types: food and medical. It is suitable for consumption, however, before that it must be diluted with water, otherwise, due to the high concentration of alcohol, serious burns of the digestive tract and oral cavity can be obtained.

Without special manipulations, "by eye" it is impossible to distinguish methyl alcohol from ethyl alcohol. Both liquids are transparent, with a characteristic odor, the same density. True, methyl has a neutral aroma, which is rather weakly expressed and is felt only when “sniffing”, while ethanol vapor is sharper and blows into the nose.

Such a product is obtained by distillation of the wort, which has previously passed the fermentation stage. You can also get it yourself at home, however, for this you need to use a special distillate - moonshine.

Reference. Homemade moonshine, made from high-quality raw materials and in accordance with technological rules, is in no way inferior in quality to industrial alcohol.

But it should be understood that with prolonged use of this ethyl product in large quantities, alcohol dependence may appear. Therefore, all drinks prepared on its basis must be consumed in small quantities.

Methyl or methanol

Methyl or technical alcohol, which is usually simply called methanol by the people- This is an industrial product, it cannot be used for food in any form. This liquid is obtained from legnin, formic alcohol and wood.

Use such a product for the manufacture of solvents and formaldehyde. When working with such a substance, you should definitely follow safety precautions, since methanol has a strong and pungent aroma, and can also cause severe burns to the epidermis.

Reference. Technical alcohol is absorbed into the body much more slowly than ethanol, it destroys the nervous system, causes severe poisoning, and also impairs vision.

That is why, when making your own alcohol-based alcoholic beverages, it is very important to use the right product.

When buying alcoholic beverages in stores with a proven reputation, the risk of poisoning with a “scorched” product is significantly reduced. Most often, drinks with methyl alcohol are sold in stalls, stalls, from hands, at unauthorized points of sale and drinking, as well as near railway stations.

How to define a species?

However, in order to independently determine which type of alcohol is represented, it is not at all necessary to carry its samples to the laboratory. There are several simple ways to determine the type of alcohol:

  1. All that is needed is to set fire to the liquid. You can pour a small amount into any container, or you can simply moisten the edge of a cotton swab and bring it to a fire source. This method does not require the use of any special tools, and the diagnostic result is instant. Ethyl alcohol always burns only with a blue fire, but the flame of methanol is green. But this rule only works for methyl alcohol without unnecessary impurities.
  2. There is also the so-called potato test. A small root crop is thoroughly cleaned and washed, then cut into two parts and both are placed in a jar. Pour potatoes with alcohol and leave for 2-5 hours. If after this period the water does not turn pink, then ethyl alcohol, and in the future it can be used.
  3. You can add a small amount of baking soda to a vessel with alcohol. If there is ethanol in the container, then the soda will turn yellow and settle at the bottom of the container. If the alcohol is methyl, then it will completely dissolve.
  4. Alcohol is slightly heated and a couple of granules of ordinary potassium permanganate are added to it. If the liquid is of high quality, then no changes will occur. If methanol was heated, then when potassium permanganate enters it, it will begin to hiss strongly and bubble.
  5. If you have a good industrial thermometer at hand, then a small amount of liquid can simply be heated in a metal bowl. At the moment when it starts to boil, its temperature should be measured. Ethanol boils at 80 degrees, and methyl alcohol begins to boil already at 60 degrees.
  6. Lang's test or discoloration of the liquid. To do this, in a small container, the test liquid is heated to 18 degrees. Manganese infusion is immediately poured here and everything is removed from the fire. Now you need to measure the time it takes to color the liquid from dark crimson to light pink. The longer this process takes place, the better the quality of the test liquid. The best option is 10 - 20 minutes. For such a sample, 50 g of alcohol, 2 g of water and 0.2 mg of potassium permanganate will be required.
  7. The simplest, but most reliable is the so-called formaldehyde study. All that is needed is to heat a copper wire over high heat and lower it into a container of liquid. After 15 seconds, the copper is removed and sniffed. The stronger the aroma of formaldehyde, the more low-quality alcohol, which means that you should never drink it.

Attention! When buying alcohol in random places, or, even more so, when you receive a homemade product as a gift, smell it before drinking. If the smell seems too harsh, somehow unusual, do not be too lazy to conduct a home examination in order to prevent severe poisoning.

Symptoms of poisoning and first aid

If methanol was nevertheless consumed, then this will be evidenced by:

  • flickering before the eyes and deterioration of visibility;
  • severe headache and dizziness;
  • severe cutting cramps in the stomach;
  • nausea and vomiting.

A person can also poorly navigate in space and lose consciousness. In such cases, immediately need to provide first aid:

  1. call an ambulance and explain that the victim has severe methanol poisoning.
  2. It is necessary to give the person a soda solution to drink. The volume of the drunk liquid should not be less than 1500 ml.
  3. You need to cleanse your intestines. To do this, first induce vomiting, and then put an enema.

For intoxication and neutralization of methanol, the victim is given to drink 50 ml of slightly diluted ethanol every three hours. But do not self-medicate at home. Only in a medical institution can assess the degree of poisoning and provide proper assistance.

Ethyl alcohol poisoning

You can also get poisoned with ethyl alcohol if you exceed the permissible dose of consumption. The amount of alcohol that enters the bloodstream is measured in ppm (‰) - a conventional unit denoting 1/10 of a percent of alcohol per 1 liter of blood.

First aid for ethyl alcohol poisoning (hangover)

If a drunkard feels sick, he should be given the opportunity to empty his stomach properly, and if he is able to drink water, it should be offered in sufficient quantities. The more alcohol the body expels from itself at this stage, the better. It is important to ensure that a person does not choke on drink or vomit. The next morning after the "victim" oversleep, he will need:

  1. One tablet of acetylsalicylic acid and analgin (or aspirin + citramon) to relieve headaches.
  2. Activated carbon, enterosgel or other sorbents.
  3. Plentiful drink - mineral water, compote, sweet drinks save well, because during the "libations" the body loses glucose.
  4. If there is an urge to vomit, you can cause it artificially by drinking a glass of clean water before that.
  5. Refreshing shower, airing the room, easy walk.
  6. Chicken broth, soup, some oatmeal, greens, or a raw egg will kick start your stomach and help you recover faster.

Heavy physical activity, exposure to contrasting temperatures, heavy food should be avoided and you should not “hangover”.

Video: how to check the quality of alcohol at home?

If there are doubts about the purchased alcoholic liquid, then it is better to do several studies at the same time to determine its quality. Watch a video that uses the Lang method - one of the easy ways to test the quality of alcohol at home:

The best advice you can give about alcohol is simply, "Don't drink at all!" - and yet impossible. There are only a few teetotalers in our society, and all the rest, at least sometimes, are wrapped up in the wine and vodka department. Therefore, the next good "alcoholic" advice will be more realistic: "Drink in moderation and only high-quality alcohol."

Even vintage cognac, expensive Cuban rum and wine aged in the cellars of France cannot be called healthy drinks, but still the harm associated with their use is just dust compared to the harm of cheap fruit and berry “wines”, all kinds of “mumbling”, moonshine and especially surrogates. There are several varieties of such drinks - and each type is harmful in its own way:

Fruit and berry "wine" (popularly: "ink") are very common and widely used. There is nothing natural in them; "ink" is a mixture of alcohol, sugar, flavorings and dyes, sometimes low-quality fruit and berry syrup. Such drinks not only “hit the liver” stronger than high-quality alcohol, but also worsen the hangover syndrome, cause accelerated addiction and have a very bad effect on the brain and the nervous system in general.

Penny liqueurs and other "chemical mixtures"- drinks that don't even pretend to be wine or anything equally natural. These are liqueurs, brandy and sangria, which are 100% "chemistry" and alcohol. You can recognize them by their color, which is too bright to be at least a little natural, by a strong and unnatural smell (strawberry, chocolate, cherry), and a very sweet taste. As in the case of allegedly wine, these drinks are characterized by a digestive system, metabolic processes, a strong and rapid increase in blood sugar levels, and destroy the nervous system. And all this - in addition to the natural damage caused to the body by alcohol.

Moonshine and other "self-made" drinks are one of the most common causes of alcohol poisoning. In addition to the fact that such drinks are very strong (their goal is obvious: to get drunk as quickly as possible), they are made without observing any technology whatsoever, which means, as God puts it in your soul. At best, a severe hangover awaits a person, at worst, no less severe poisoning. Foreign impurities adversely affect all internal organs of a person.

Alcohol surrogates- "outcasts" even in the most unassuming "alcohol society". All kinds of alcohol-containing lotions, colognes, medicines, technical liquids. In such substances, absolutely everything affects the human body destructively. For example, ethylene glycol, which is part of the brake fluid, decomposes into toxic acids in the body and causes serious poisoning with an 80% probability. Dichloroethane, which is part of solvents, can kill even with extremely little use. Even seemingly harmless components of cosmetic and medicinal alcohol-containing preparations can greatly irritate the mucous membranes of the digestive tract, causing severe pain.

The impact of low-quality alcohol on the body

When using any of the varieties of low-quality alcohol impact can be expressed in three different effects:

Instant poisoning. As they say, no comment. It is most often caused by the use of alcoholic substitutes or moonshine, counterfeit alcohol, but the excessive use of ordinary strong alcohol can also be the cause.

gradual poisoning. The constant and frequent use of alcohol-containing substances, which include poisonous substances, even in low concentrations, causes the effect of gradual poisoning. As a result, poisoning occurs without an obvious cause and is caused by the final excess of the dose of the poisonous substance.

Accumulation of destructive influence. The difference between this effect and the previous one is that its final is not poisoning, but the development of serious diseases. If a person drinks "mumbling" often and in large quantities for several years, it usually ends in a hospital bed - a diagnosis that greatly shortens a person's life.

How to recognize low-quality alcohol?

Most of those who systematically consume low-quality alcohol have no illusions about the contents of the bottle, but in some cases, people who care about their health may encounter "alcohol poison". To avoid this, you need to be able to identify low-quality alcohol. You should be alerted by the following characteristics of the drink:
  • Very low price. An alcoholic drink has a certain cost, and if the final price is very low, it means that the manufacturer has saved a lot. On what? On natural ingredients, on high-quality alcohol.
  • Suspicious bottle. Handicraft production can give itself away with a crookedly designed or glued label, an unformatted cork, etc.
  • The presence of sediment and other suspicious inclusions "in the light." If the drink is clear, shake the bottle and carefully examine the liquid against the light. There should be no sediment, no floating flakes, no grains, no foam.
  • Strong bad odor- good orientation; this is what synthetic harmful components in the composition of alcohol often impersonate.

Counterfeit alcohol can contain life-threatening substances in varying proportions. In order not to pay with health, when choosing alcohol, use a few rules from Rospotrebnadzor.

What to look for in order not to buy a fake

1. Place of purchase

No dubious stalls and markets, and even more so purchases by hand or via the Internet. The store should be located in a building that is connected to the land, that is, kiosks and other temporary buildings - not right away.

Also, the store must have a license for the right to retail alcohol. This document can be found on the trading floor at the information stand. If there is no license, look for the store in the list of licensees on the website of the Unified Social Portal of the Alcohol Market.

2. Price

The minimum prices for the sale of strong drinks - vodka, brandy, cognac and other alcohol with a strength above 28% are set by the state Order of the Ministry of Finance of Russia dated April 4, 2017 No. 57n “On amendments to the order of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation dated May 11, 2016 No. 58n “On setting prices not lower than which purchases (excluding imports), supplies (excluding exports) are carried out ) and retail sales of alcoholic products with a strength of over 28 percent". This means that the price for half a liter of vodka or alcoholic beverages simply cannot be less than 205 rubles, and the same volume of cognac will not be sold for less than 371 rubles.

It is also useful to look at the average price for a bottle of a particular brand of drink. This can be done, for example, on the website of the Bristol trading network or through the Edadil service. If you see a crazy discount on a product, you should think about its quality.

3. Appearance of the bottle

If the counterfeiters made the bottles themselves, they can be very different from the original ones. For example, they may have a smoothed shape of the shoulders, while the real one will have clear edges.

In order not to be mistaken, before buying, go to the sites indicated above and check how the original bottle looks like, and then compare the photo with the product in the store. Also check the embossed lettering on the sides of the bottle and the bottom. On fakes, they may be blurry and unreadable, or absent altogether.

If the counterfeit supplier does not produce bottles, but buys used original bottles, you can distinguish a fake by the cork and the film on the neck.

For original bottles, the film is stretched perfectly, without folds and protrusions, the inscriptions on it are well read and evenly spaced. If there are any flaws on the film, connecting element or cover, such as uneven edges or bulges, this is a reason to be wary.

The cap on the bottle must not rotate. The same with the safety ring: if it spins with the cap instead of breaking, leave the bottle in the store.

4. Information on the label

First of all, check whether the label is glued evenly, for tears and wrinkles. If everything is clear, see the information. The label must indicate Rospotrebnadzor recommendations for the purchase of alcoholic beverages following:

  • Name of product.
  • Volume and strength in percent.
  • Compound.
  • Mass concentration of sugar, if any.
  • Country of manufacture and location of production.
  • Information about contraindications and dangers of use.
  • Expiry date, if any.
  • Bottling date - on the label on either side, on the bottle itself or on the cap on the neck.

If you buy, on the Russian counter-label there should be all the listed information that matches the front.

5. Excise stamp

The excise stamp is printed on special paper with colored fibers, all numbers and codes on it are clear, clearly visible and easy to read. The stamp must be glued absolutely evenly.

You can check the brand through the Anti-Counterfeit Alco application from the Unified Social Portal of the Alcohol Market. Download it and use it directly in the store.

How to recognize a fake if you have already opened a bottle

The last frontier of verification is the quality of the product itself. There are some signs by which you can identify low-quality alcohol, but if you do not have experience in tasting, the risk of error is very high.

By appearance

Fake alcohol can be identified visually. Strong drinks must be homogeneous. If the liquid in the bottle separates, this should alert.

As for the drips on the walls of the glass, this is common in wines and cognacs and has nothing to do with the quality of the drink. These, as they are also called, "cognac legs" indicate the density of the drink and depend on the percentage of alcohol, the amount of residual sugar in the wines and aging in the barrel or on the lees.

Does not indicate a fake and the color of the wine: it depends on the grape varieties and production technology.

By smell

Determining counterfeit wine by smell is quite difficult. Sergey says that in some bottles there is a “cork disease”. During the processing of the bark to make a cork, a chemical compound can be formed that gets inside the bottle and spoils the drink.

Sergey Popov

If the base of the cork that comes into contact with the wine smells like wet cardboard, rotting wood, or wet autumn leaves, the wine will not be enjoyable. However, this is a natural defect and it is difficult to get poisoned by such a drink.

Other aromas of wine, even not very pleasant ones, cannot serve as a sign of counterfeit.

Sergey Popov

The wine can be smelled of gasoline or burnt rubber - this is a characteristic of the Riesling variety from some countries. And dry wine from the Gewürztraminer or Torrontes varieties often has notes of rose, apricot, peony, nutmeg and other shades. And this does not mean at all that flavorings were added to the wine.

If you do not like the aroma of wine, Sergey advises to find the characteristics of the variety on the Internet. Maybe that's how it's supposed to smell.

To understand the aroma of strong alcohol, you can rub it in your palms: the alcohol will evaporate, leaving notes of the drink itself. If the smell is chemical, this should alert. But do not confuse foreign aromas with the smell of alcohol - this is a natural component of the drink and does not indicate a fake.

Taste

Sergey claims that it will be difficult for an ordinary consumer to distinguish a fake from the original without.

Sergey Popov

If you add a little more caramel color to the same cognac - this is caramel, it is allowed to add it to cognac and whiskey in certain quantities - this will improve not only the color, but also the taste. It's like with tea: when it is with sugar, it seems "tasty", because a person does not feel bitterness, viscosity, astringency. And if he drinks it without sugar, then astringency can cause rejection.

Sergey explains that a person can notice a fake only with a certain tasting experience. For example, if you are used to drinking one brand of cognac all the time, and then instead of your favorite drink you get a fake.

But at the same time, a drink of another brand can also cause rejection in him: the taste will seem unpleasant. And this does not mean at all that another cognac is fake and of poor quality, it is simply new for a person.

Thus, only a professional can definitely determine a fake by color, smell and taste. However, paying for expensive alcohol is worth it, if only because you are not at such a great risk of poisoning.

To create fake drinks, low-quality ethyl alcohol is used with a high content of fusel oils and aldehydes, which will reward you with a headache and a wild hangover. But even this is not the worst. It is much worse if the drink contains a high content of methyl alcohol.

Why is methyl alcohol dangerous and can it be recognized

Methyl alcohol Diagnosis of methyl alcohol poisoning: opportunities and prospects- this is a toxic substance, in case of poisoning with which you can partially or completely lose your eyesight due to irreversible atrophy of the optic nerve, earn pneumonia, acute liver or kidney failure. In the worst case, to die on the first or second day after the libation.

Only 5-10 ml of a 40% methanol solution is enough for poisoning, and 15-30 ml for a lethal outcome.

Despite statements on the Internet, it is almost impossible to distinguish methyl alcohol from ethyl alcohol at home. So, you can often hear that when a drink with methanol is ignited, the flame will have a green tint. However, in one YouTube video, this method gave absolutely no results.

At the same time, there is not a single real confirmation that this or other methods really work.

How to understand that you have poisoned yourself with methyl alcohol, and what to do

Symptoms of poisoning may appear in the period from 40 minutes to 72 hours after taking methyl alcohol.

With a mild degree of poisoning, they are easy to confuse with the usual: intoxication is replaced by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, sometimes fog before the eyes or flashing flies. There may be dizziness, weakness, depression of consciousness, palpitations.

In the case of moderate severity, within a few days, vision becomes progressively worse until it completely disappears. Severe cases are characterized by acute pain in the abdomen, pupil dilation, sudden excitement, convulsions with loss of consciousness, impaired breathing and cardiac activity.

It is better not to assess your condition on your own and if you experience abdominal pain or visual impairment, immediately call an ambulance.

It is no secret that low-quality alcohol causes many diseases and even death of people. But alcohol is quite often used for medicinal purposes, including the recommended intake in the form of pepper and various tinctures. In addition, alcohol is used for external use (decontamination of wounds, cauterization, etc.), so the harmful substances contained in low-quality alcohol can enter the human body through the skin. Therefore, it is very important that the alcohol used be purified from toxic substances and harmful impurities.

However, despite all the measures taken to purify alcohol during manufacture (during the preparation of mash, during fermentation and during distillation), it is still impossible to obtain a pure product. This also applies to wine.

To purify alcoholic beverages, it is recommended to use filters containing activated carbon. It not only cleans the drink, but also eliminates unpleasant odors, improves taste. In addition, the wine is clarified, getting rid of color absorbed from the outside.

In Russian distillation, coal for filtration has been used for a long time. In 1785, the St. Petersburg pharmacist T. E. Lovits, who later became an academician, was the first to discover the purifying ability of coal during the distillation of alcohol. In his experiments, Lovitz distilled alcohol over coal powder and at the same time obtained a product that was purer than with ordinary distillation. The same scientist discovered that simply shaking the wine without heating and distillation improves the taste and color of the drink and eliminates unpleasant odors.

In addition, the following discovery was made: it is effective to carry out filtration through coal by first diluting alcohol with cold boiled water to 40% or after the first distillation, when the proportion of alcohol contained does not exceed 45%. Good results are justified by the fact that the greater the concentration of alcohol, the stronger it retains impurities and, accordingly, the more difficult it is to purify. In this process, it is important to keep the alcohol temperature as low as possible. Soon this discovery began to be applied in wineries. As a result, the quality of the wines has improved significantly.

An activated carbon filter, as mentioned above, is within our power to make ourselves. In this case, you can use both activated charcoal, bought directly at the pharmacy, and home-made, made from wood.

In the latter case, when selecting certain tree species, it is possible to obtain alcohol with different taste qualities that no other manufacturer has.

To make a filter at home, you need to take a pan of a suitable size with a hole made in the bottom. A thin layer of cotton wool and a piece of gauze are laid out at the bottom of the pan. Activated carbon is poured on top of the gauze at the rate of 50 g per 1 liter of alcohol intended for filtration. Coal is covered with gauze edges so that it does not float to the surface. After that, you can pour alcohol into the prepared container.

In order for the alcohol to be purified as best as possible, it is recommended to pass it through a similar filter 2-3 times. The finer the powder, the denser the filter will be and the filtration process itself will be slower, but the alcohol passed through the filter will also be better cleaned.

Another way to purify alcohol is to pour activated carbon into a container with alcohol at the rate of 50 g per 1 liter and shake the mixture well. Such shaking is recommended to be done several times during the day. After that, the alcohol, together with activated charcoal, is infused for about 1 week, after which it is filtered through gauze or filter paper.

Cleaning alcohol at home gives very good results.

It should be remembered that different types of wood have different adsorbing properties, that is, the composition of the substances absorbed by them varies to some extent. This is the reason for the taste and quality differences of wines purified by different filters.
