Yaroslavl Chocolate Factory Manchester Enterprise. Confectioners from Yaroslavl can register the Boucheron trademark for chocolate

Last week, the administration of Rybinsk, represented by the department of the consumer market of goods and services, organized a "meeting on the Elbe" of representatives of the city's trade with a company producing coffee, tea and chocolate. The sweet trail of Manchester Enterprise does not lead to the West at all, but to the Bolsheselsky district, where the factory was founded in the rural wilderness among the famous Vareg peat bogs.

The event was opened by the Acting Mayor of Rybinsk, Leonid Mozheiko, noting that providing a platform for communication, establishing business contacts between trade representatives and local producers is always relevant, and especially today, when the leadership of the country and the region has clearly defined the course for import substitution. The prestige and popularity of local producers should grow, and with them, taxes to the budgets of different levels.

It is interesting that even those who had previously tried the products of the Bolsheselskaya company could hardly have guessed that it was ours, domestic. Unless, of course, you have not studied the label with meticulousness, the design of which, I must say, looks quite European. Manchester Enterprise remained a dark horse not only for the average Rybinsk buyer.

- For me personally, it was a discovery when at the Buy Yaroslavl fair, along with honey, potatoes, vegetables, we saw this oasis confectionery production, — shared her impressions Elina Abramovich, head of the consumer market of goods and services. “Firstly, the beautiful solid packaging attracts the eye, and when you taste the products, you understand that the contents match. Products interested, and we invited representatives of the company to this meeting. Here today there are heads of trade organizations - both network and retail, cafes and other enterprises. Catering. I hope the meeting will be useful for all parties, and the townspeople will see the result. We are open for cooperation with local manufacturers. Moreover, on the eve of the VI festival "World of Taste" we hope to discover new names.

During the meeting with entrepreneurs of Rybinsk, a presentation of Manchester Enterprise and a tasting of its products took place. It was founded in 2012. Empty garages and workshops of the former peat enterprise were adapted for the new production. In the same year, Varegovo began producing tea and coffee, and since 2013, chocolate. And in just a few years, Manchester Enterprise has expanded its range to dozens of types of coffee and tea, as well as cocoa and chocolate. Details are in our interview with the company's CEO Nadezhda Puzdrova.

— Nadezhda Viktorovna, how did your company enter the market?

— We studied the market before starting production to determine our niche. Initially, we decided to bet on quality. If we talk about the advantages of our products, this is the complete absence of artificial additives. In production, we use only 100% natural ingredients High Quality.

— What does Manchester Enterprise produce now?

— We have a fairly wide assortment — more than 200 items, in the near future we will introduce another 50. The main directions are tea, coffee and chocolate. Now we are cooperating with the Yaroslavl chains "Lotos", "House of Food", "Eliseevsky" stores. In Rybinsk, our products are in Druzhba, in the markets of the city.

— Tell us about the company's plans.

— We want to expand our presence in Yaroslavl, first of all, and in Russia as a whole. In the near future we plan to enter the European and Asian markets, again we rely on quality and assortment. Also in the plans is the opening of his own boutique, so far only in Yaroslavl. But, probably, the second city will be Rybinsk. We are actively working in this direction.

— Do you expect any preferences for yourself in connection with the import substitution policy?

— Yes, the relevant presidential decree is being actively implemented now. Fairs are held under the motto "Buy Russian", in which we regularly participate - almost every week in different cities. And we have progress in this direction. But our task is not just to sell more goods, but to show the consumer our products in the full range, since not all chains today have the opportunity to present our entire product range on the shelf. And thanks to such actions, this opportunity appears.

- All your production is concentrated in the Bolsheselsky district. Why was this place chosen?

— Of course, it is no coincidence that the production site is located in the Yaroslavl region. Yaroslavl is the best place in Russia to open a large confectionery production. He himself is considered a confectionery brand, whose history began with the appearance in 1881 of the first confectionery factory, which belonged to the merchant Maslennikov. And our company took a course towards the revival of the rich Yaroslavl confectionery traditions. Today, our factory is a high-tech production, which employs more than 170 people. It is equipped with modern equipment, mainly manufactured in Germany, England, Taiwan, Turkey. It allows us to provide a high level of quality at every stage of the production cycle.

— The company is Russian, and the name is in English. Why?

- This is due to the fact that we produce products European quality. We were originally aimed at European quality standards. Today they are stricter than Russian ones.

— And what about the situation with the staff? The village today, alas, is very poor in human resources.

— Yes, we have a factory in the countryside, but the staff is mostly urban. As for top managers, we have them from all over Russia: a technical director from Nizhnevartovsk, a production manager from Bryansk, there are specialists from Moscow, Ivanov, Krasnodar and other cities. Eighty percent of the workers are Yaroslavl, as well as Tutaev, Nikolskoye, Bolshoe Selo, and Varegovo. We provide housing for non-residents. We have good social conditions, corporate transport that delivers employees to production. We also attract wages. We are monitoring that it is higher than in the region in this sector of the economy. And, of course, the company is interested in staff development. Pre-treatment of chocolate raw materials is carried out at Swiss and Belgian factories, with which we work closely, develop joint recipes, and therefore we send specialists for training at least once a month.

— The chocolate, tea and coffee market is very dynamic. The consumer needs to be constantly surprised by something new. What is the direction of your company?

- According to statistical studies, only 8% of the entire confectionery is occupied by chocolate products. Therefore, this area has great potential for development. If you have already noticed, we are the initiators of many ideas that other manufacturers do not have. As for the trends in the market, today they are as follows. Consumers are tired of sweet bars that cannot be called chocolate and miss natural products. Plus it's enough for now big choice, and buyers have become more choosy, people are well aware of where natural chocolate is and where it is not.

- It turns out that European-level production may well grow in Russia?

— Of course, we have everything in order to develop dynamically. If we talk only about coffee, then we produce about a million packaging units per month. Together with chocolate - one million three hundred. At the same time, we do not work at the warehouse. But the bar before us is higher. And now our task is to expand production facilities, assortment and our representation in the region and Russia. Today's presentation to Rybinsk trade representatives is also being held in order to implement these plans.

Real Swiss chocolate is made in the Yaroslavl region. Governor Sergei Yastrebov visited a chocolate factory in the Bolsheselsky district, where they have just launched another line and are preparing to release new products, Vesti reports.

Only natural ingredients, no chemicals or dyes. During the tour, the governor was shown the entire cycle of coffee production, from the process of roasting, grinding and ending with the packaging of finished products. Second floor - chocolate shops. The second, more powerful casting line was put into operation here chocolate products. Its capacity is 500 kilograms per hour. This made it possible to increase the production of chocolate three times. The average age of the company's employees is 37 years. There are no staffing issues. It is impossible to do without manual labor in such production not only in workshops, but also, for example, in a laboratory.

“We sift the coffee, the size of the particles, we have tolerance limits, each size has its own. Sifted and see how much we have settled 0.5 mm sieve. And release in finished products”, says Oksana Kudelina, senior technologist of the enterprise.

One and a half million cans and a million chocolate packs go to the shelves per month outlets in different regions. If in 2014 the factory produced 200 items of products, then in 2015 - already more than 280. In the near future - the release of sweets, which have not yet been present at Russian market. And starting from March, the factory intends to produce ready-made dry mixes for baking. These are three types of bread, as well as all kinds of confectionery and even pizza base.

“The hostess took it, mixed it and put it in the oven. Nothing more needs to be done. Also, for example, the basis for pizza. There is nothing easier than making it yourself. You have no idea how easy it is,” says Tatyana Abramova, the company's chief technologist.

According to the director, the company is developing rapidly, and, quite likely, in the foreseeable future, it will be necessary to look for a place in the Yaroslavl region for the construction of a second site. “This year we built a new warehouse, modern and warm.

The Collegium of the Chamber for Patent Disputes ordered Rospatent to register the Boucheron trademark at the request of Manchester Enterprise, a subsidiary of the chocolate, tea and cocoa manufacturer from the Yaroslavl region. The Board satisfied the objection of Manchester Group Ltd from Belize against the decision of Rospatent dated July 30, 2015, which refused to register the Boucheron trademark for coffee, tea, confectionery, etc. The declared designation reproduces part of the brand name of the world famous French jewelry house Boucheron Holding and can mislead consumers, motivated the decision of Rospatent. Boucheron was founded by the jeweler Frédéric Boucheron in 1858, when he opened a small workshop and, later that year, the first jewelery store in Place Royale, Paris. Today, the company, in addition to jewelry, produces perfumes and accessories; is part of the Kering group, which is one of the world's largest owners of luxury brands (Gucci, Saint Laurent, etc.).

Colleagues experience

In 2012, Swiss luxury goods manufacturer Richemont sued to have its watch brands Vacheron Constantin and Jaeger LeCoultre deregistered from other companies. In Russia, under these brands, the trading network Lady & Gentleman City previously sold clothes

But "Manchester Group Ltd" did not agree and filed an objection to the Chamber for Patent Disputes. Boucheron Holding produces expensive jewelry, the circle of their consumers is "extremely small" - in Russia they are sold in only four stores, the applicant's arguments are given in the conclusion of the collegium. And Boucheron Holding is not included in the top 100 luxury goods manufacturers, Manchester Group Ltd. cites Deloitte. In addition, Manchester Group Ltd owns the Bucheron brand, under which chocolate is already being produced.

Manchester Enterprise, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, is owned by Igor Poddubny and Eduard Zhurbenko, the owners of Inter Group, which until 2012 owned the Senator and Richmond cigarette brands. The Manchester Enterprise factory in the Yaroslavl Region produces over 300 types of chocolate, coffee and tea products; they are supplied to federal networks, lists Zhurbenko. According to him, the company works on Barry Callebaut industrial chocolate. Revenue of Manchester Enterprise in 2015 - 992.6 million rubles, net profit - 15.7 million rubles. ("SPARK-Interfax"). "Manchester Group Ltd" owns the rights to trademarks under which "Manchester Enterprise" manufactures products, said Zhurbenko.

“Boucheron is a beautiful, pleasant name, the result of the professional work of the marketing department,” Zhurbenko insists, “and the French jewelry house has never produced confectionery.” According to him, Manchester Enterprise products are sold through the Inter Group trading house.

In practice, the registration of two similar or even identical marks for different types of goods and services occurs, says Alina Akinshina, Operations Director of Online Patent. Manchester Enterprise has proved that there will be no confusion: it does not intend to use the brand of the jewelry house, the expert believes.

When considering the application, there were no objections from Boucheron Holding, a representative of Rospatent said. The press service of Boucheron Holding did not respond to a request.
