Ukrainian donuts for borscht - recipe

Pour dry yeast into a bowl of warm milk. Add sugar to activate the yeast. Whisk yeast with milk and sugar. Leave the mixture for 10 minutes. After that, pour in sunflower oil, beat in an egg, add salt. Stir. Pour the sifted flour into the resulting base for Ukrainian donuts. As in the first recipe, flour should be added in small portions. With hands greased with sunflower oil, knead the dough.

Lubricate your hands with oil before sculpting donuts. Roll the dough into balls with a diameter of about 4-5 cm. Since the donuts will increase in volume during baking, so that they have a place to grow, lay them out at a distance of 1 cm from each other. To get a glossy crust, donuts can be brushed with a beaten egg. Let them rise for 15 minutes. Put the form with them in the oven, on the middle shelf. Bake for about 15 minutes. Finished Ukrainian donuts put in a bowl. Water them as in the first recipe.

Pour warm, almost hot water into a bowl with high walls.


Add salt and sugar. The sweetness level can be adjusted according to your preference. But for a good "work" of yeast, you need to put at least a tablespoon. We add oil. It is advisable to use refined, so that the bright aroma of sunflower does not spoil the finished dish. Lightly mix the ingredients.


If you use live yeast, you can immediately add flour. Dry yeast should be allowed to stand for literally 10 minutes. Pour the flour in small parts, sift and immediately knead the dough. It is more convenient to start kneading with a spoon, and when the dough becomes thicker, we work with our hands.


The finished blank for donuts should only slightly stick to your hands and be soft.


With a brush with butter, coat the bottom and walls of the mold in which the buns will be baked. Pinch off small pieces of dough (about 2 walnuts), give the buns a rounded shape and put in a mold. Only then turn on the oven to heat up. And while it is heating, we place the form on the stove, there will be heat from oven. Until the temperature reaches 200 degrees, donuts will have time to rise a little.


Place the mold in the oven for 20 minutes.


After taking the donuts out of the oven, we prepare the dressing: pour butter or vegetable oil into a small bowl and put the garlic in it, finely chopped with a knife or passed through a garlic press. We mix the components. Coat slightly cooled donuts with garlic-butter mixture.
