The editors arrived in Moscow early at Sapsan to taste the most remarkable breakfasts. They walked around a lot, ate even more (on some days they managed to have breakfast three times before 12:00) - they wrote a memo for people like us. Who is limited in time, not oriented in space and has no right to spray in vain.

With us - breakfast-sights that are ashamed and insulting not to try in the capital. From fellow Muscovites - practical advice in the category "where we go ourselves."

If you overslept breakfast, take a look at our guides to the capital's lunches and dinners.

The Laduree brand has existed since 1862, since then it has been considered a Chanel from the confectionery world. Their bakery at 16 rue Royale in Paris was designed by the poster artist Jules Cheret. It was Lyadure that gave the world almond pasta cakes, which Muscovites now get for 180 rubles apiece (and 390 if taken in a gift box). If you keep all this in mind, then it becomes timid to enter a restaurant with a Laduree sign, and even opposite GUM. For courage, drink a glass of Laduree Prestige champagne for 1350 rubles - and enjoy breakfast in a stunningly beautiful restaurant. The first hall is "boudoir" with red velvet armchairs, stucco and heavy curtains, the second is decorated with luxurious panels from the brush of Zuber masters, and the third is an airy, pink vip. With all the Parisian chic, the prices in the morning menu are quite acceptable: scrambled eggs from 220 rubles, fruit salad for 310, granola with fromage blanc for 450, french pastries from 130. Only omelettes and French toast cost more than 500 - for example, with rose-flavored Chantilly cream and fresh raspberries. Jeremy Delaval, who moved from Paris to Moscow, is responsible for the Laduree kitchen.

Mokhovaya st., 15/1, hotel "National"
on weekdays from 6:00 to 12:00, on weekends from 6:00 to 13:00

The morning menu of the Grand Cafe Dr. Zhivago has, just imagine, 93 dishes: it “retells” the whole history of Russia from peasant buckwheat porridge, through royal pancakes with caviar and to party omelettes with doctor's sausage. We give a guide for the first time: the owner of the restaurant, Alexander Rappoport, is not indifferent to the cottage cheese pastry, the chefs are absolutely sure of millet with crayfish necks, Tina Kandelaki goes to egg benedict with salmon, Nicole Scherzinger's choice is dumplings with potatoes and black caviar. For excellent Guryev porridge, syrniki and mogul with Borodino croutons and a bowl of red caviar, we paid only 830 rubles. Here is the National Hotel, a view of Red Square and celebrities at the next table. So do not be afraid of prices, do not come without a reservation - it is a shame not to know Doctor Zhivago.

Kuznetsky most, 6/3
on weekdays from 8:00 to 11:30, on weekends from 9:00 to 15:00

The view at the Brasserie on Kuznetsky Most is so brilliant, as if you don’t even need jeans here, and you can leave your last pants. The starched tablecloths and the waiter's French accent only reinforce the effect. Everything is much nicer in the check. Yes, there are eggs Benedict with king crab for 1950 rubles, pancakes with berries and cottage cheese for some reason are priced at 1220, a glass of pomegranate juice costs 950 - but these are all optional pleasures. In general, there are plenty of dishes on the menu that will not encroach on your psychological comfort - up to 500 rubles. Take porridge with cone jam for 400 rubles, fontainebleau with seeds for 380, orange suzette pancakes for 350, farm yogurt for 220. And do not forget about fresh croissants: a chef named Jean-Luc Moll and with a residence permit in Bordeaux forgive.

Stop Moscow, I'll get off - for a weekend breakfast at Kazbek, it is lazy and homely (sorry for the vulgarity), torn from the rhythm of the city. There are no such beautiful Georgian restaurants in St. Petersburg - like a vintage apartment of a wealthy Tbilisi artist. To which a balcony was attached in the summer (the so-called panoramic hall on the 3rd floor) with a view of the Moscow River and Stalinist "Ukraine". It is on the balcony that you make an appointment for an omelet with tomatoes and shashkulavi (the same basil, only from the Georgian garden), pancakes with nadughi cheese, puff pastry-achma, hangover chikhirtma - everything that the soul of a mountaineer needs when he wakes up. At the stove and at the oven for khachapuri chef Mamiya Georghua and his mother Nana are working. Breakfast at the top of Kazbek will cost 600-700 rubles.

around the clock

In any incomprehensible situation, go to Kukareku - this is a unique restaurant where breakfast is served around the clock, without a break for sleep and family circumstances. The menu includes 28 breakfasts from different parts of the world. Potpourri impressive: from the ubiquitous English breakfast and the popular Middle Eastern shakshuka scrambled eggs - to curiosities like "Japanese Breakfast" with smoked eel and tamago omelet, "Bulgarian" with stuffed eggplant or an Australian-flagged rissole with egg and pepper jam. Prices start at 480 rubles, but if you take a dish from the country whose residents are having breakfast right now (8:00-10:00 local time), then you will get a 30% discount. For example, Singaporean breakfast is best to try when the Kremlin clock shows three nights.

The rules of life for True Coast restaurants are simple: pay 100-700 rubles for entry, depending on the day of the week and time of day (for breakfast: 100 rubles on weekdays, 500 on weekends) - you get the opportunity to order dishes at cost. To make you feel even more imbued with the idea, the menu has two columns with prices: the local price list and the average figures for Moscow. So, we get an omelette of three eggs for 38 rubles 58 kopecks (against the average for the hospital 210), cheesecakes for 113 rubles (against 320), pancakes with maple syrup and blackberry jam for 140 (against 270), three pancakes here cost 27 rubles, also for chocolate paste for 11.20 will remain. There are three True Cost restaurants in Moscow, but breakfast is available only at Kitai-Gorod. In St. Petersburg there is one project of a similar format - Commode, although it is more like a hookah bar, you can’t cook porridge here.

The gastrobar at the Trekhgornaya manufactory pretends to be a travel agency: you arrive at the address, you can barely find a pale sign - you find yourself in a standard-looking tour office and immediately hear "Where do you want to go?" You can mumble a confused “oh” and leave. But it’s more correct to say the code “We’re not going anywhere” - then the cabinet with folders will move off and the entrance to the secret room will open. For Muscovites, all this is probably boredom. But not for those who came here for the first time. The breakfast menu is divided into sections "Bread", "Eggs" and "Milk". And if everything is clear with the last two (here are omelettes, benedicts, cereals and cheesecakes), then chef Dmitry Shurshakov had fun in the bread section. Instead of sandwiches, there will be Mexican tacos (the version with turkey and jalapenos turns out to be very invigorating) and waffles with bacon, honey and persimmons. It is important not to leave until you have tried Alexander Kahn cocktails. Here, for example, High Tea Punch is also tea with lemon. And also - with cucumber, elderberry and gin (but that's nothing).

Where Muscovites themselves have breakfast

Breakfast is a moment of seeking comfort, not gastronomic experiments (at least for me). Abstractly, I like the idea of breakfasts outside my own kitchen incredibly, specifically - if you happen to leave the house without pouring coffee up to your ears and without throwing a portion of cottage cheese and jam into yourself, several places can save others from me: “Coffeemania”, Pinch and “ Northerners". Perhaps everything. What do I eat? Cheesecakes are everywhere: classic ones at Coffeemania, from ricotta at Pinch’e, from baked cottage cheese at Severyany. In Pinch there is still a cool truffle omelet, and in Severyany I somehow even got the chef Georgy Troyan to such an extent that he put cottage cheese on the menu (yes, you understand, I love dairy). Krutan breakfasts should be at Remy Kitchen Bakery - but they've recently launched and I can't get to them. And I won’t get there because we just opened Big Wine Freaks on Bolshaya Nikitskaya. Sasha manages to be not only the best restaurant observer in the capital, but also an excellent PR director of RAW And we have brunch here every day. Cottage cheese with condensed milk, however, is not yet available, but there are eggs Benedict.

The “Northerners” do not take the first place, but even run: a pancake from the oven overtakes an omelet with crab to the most beautiful background music in the city. Georgy Troyan, the winner of the “At the Height” chef competition, which we (“Afisha-restaurants” - ed.) created together with Aeroflot, is not just a bonus, but the main award. In second place is Simachev, which everyone usually goes to at 11 at night, and I drop in at 11 in the morning: I have not tried Benedict on a muffin better yet. Third place is held by Salumeria - a buratta with frittata, an Italian who prepares coffee with eggnog, and in general a portal to in the middle of nowhere in Italy. On the honorable fourth - Vogue cafe, where, as before, my favorite croque madam and the whole palette of images of modern and not very Moscow. I will complete the list with "Coffeemania", but it is without rating, place and rank - it is in the soul, in the heart and in the head forever. The best network for any part of the day for many years.

I recently tried good breakfasts in Posner and Rappoport's "Geraldine" non-bistro. Impressed with Orsini's eggs and Matushka Pulyar's omelet. I like to order Benedict with crab or salmon at Christian and dumplings with dumplings at . Of the latter, I remember milk sausages with peas (!) at the Tekhnikum, but you should still order brioche with ricotta and apricot jam, acai bowl, syrniki and avocado toast with cream cheese.
